Never Mind

There is one good thing about the girls watching movies. They pick up cute sayings. Laina just told me that  there were "plenty more"clips in the drawer. I never say plenty more and it just had the cutest way of coming out of her mouth. Of course, the non cute sayings cancel out the cute sayings so I guess this post is really null and void.

Couple married for 62 years

An elderly couple walked into the lobby of the Mayo Clinic for a checkup and spotted a piano. They've been married for 62 years and he'll be 90 this year. Check out this impromptu performance.

P.S.

There are two clues floating around on this blog at this very moment...

Just gonna spring one on you.

First person to correctly tell me what this is gets a $10 gift card to Starbucks thanks to Swagbucks.

The coloring is completely off in this picture but look what Jason finally finished! We have big plans for this baby.

The background doesn't look yellow at all. Oh well. You get the idea.

Ambleside Online/ Homeschooling

I have been reading posts from the yahoo group for Level 0 of Charlotte Mason's style of education and my brain is exploding and I feel too eager to sleep. I have so much to learn and really have just scratched the surface. You can go to Ambleside Online to read more about it yourself. I would love to have mucho support from you all since at this point I don't know exactly what I am going to be doing and I will be pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Out of my safety box.  It's so easy to think of just using A Bekah or ACE or curriculum like that but there is something about Charlotte Mason's approach that pulls at my heart. I'm not judging those that do use other methods I just know that for me and my children, this is the way I want to go.

:) I am so anxious and ready to learn!
Poor Jason is sick, sick, sick. I know that I am next and I dread it. There will be no help here and I will have to do what he is doing and do what I am doing. That is going to be miserable.

Aren't we cute

The Clean House Part 1

4 things I have learned from my daughters today

1)  Eily has beautiful eyebrows.

2) When you are on a boat you have to wear pantyhose.

3) Diarrhea is hard to clean out of a dining room chair.

4) Peeing in the potty can earn you two M&M's.

Just whistle while you work

I'm working hard to get this place ready for a video tour. Other than working the vac on the playroom it has all been officially cleaned. I just have to re-pick up the rooms that were cleaned first and put clean sheets on the beds.

Remembering to be mellow

I finished the living room. Let's see a before picture again.
And another:

Now let's insert a picture of Eily for no particular reason.

Now, you have to ignore the boxes in the chairs. One is going to a PC show with me tomorrow and the other is a new cd player for the dining room and it just needs to be assembled. My living room always looks empty and non-welcoming in pictures but I promise it doesn't feel that way in real life. So just picture hominess. Thanks.

The next areas on the agenda are the hallway and the playroom. My mom has been over here twice when the playroom was destroyed and picked it up twice. One of those times was this morning and it already looks like this again. Oh well.

Can you tell they enjoy their playroom?

It is snowing here again. It's so calming.

And on the fourth day...

the living room finally became clean. Took me long enough, no? I kept picking it up but the deep cleaning would always take a back seat to something else. Tonight I pushed through and got everything but the floor cleaned. I'll have to do that when the girls are awake. I'll take after pictures and post them then.
Guess who we now officially own!! It's very exciting!

Today I thought about the fact that I keep saying I'm going to teach the girls how to do things in the kitchen but I never actually do go through with it. It's so much faster and easier to do it myself and really, when I'm on a mission, if I have to slow down or if I get interrupted I get irritable and unpleasant. I've been implementing "mellowing out" into my daily life and so today I decided that the girls would make the deviled eggs for church tomorrow despite the fact that I was trying to get a lot accomplished.

Elaina was the egg cutter and Claire was the yoke scooper.

Elaina lost it near the end of the cutting and scooping due to what was later discovered to be a horrible ear infection.

But Claire was Miss Cheerful and Helpful today and together we finished filling the whites and then eating what was left of the filling.

Didn't they do a good job? They even peeled the eggs beforehand,I just didn't have the camera out then.

P.S. Claire is so stinkin' cute!!

Pepto by the gallons.

One good thing that comes from having an upset stomach is privacy in the bathroom. None of my children stayed in there more than 5 seconds.

I have been gone, we have been sick and obviously, I have been cleaning. But I thought a quick hello was in order and I wanted to share this apron that I saw in a catalog today. What a clever idea.
