Food

Today, I had a funny thought brought on by my cousins' blog. What foods that I don't like, do I wish I did like, and what foods am I content disliking? Here is what I've come up with so far:

FOODS I DON'T MIND DISLIKING
Catfish
Beets
Prunes
Apricots
Bran
Bananas

FOODS I DISLIKE BUT WISH I LIKED
Watermelon
Cucumber
Shrimp
Blueberries
Cooked Raisins
Cooked Carrots

That's all for me for the moment, but what about you? Are there any foods you have attempted several times to eat, but no matter what, you can't get them down your throat? What foods have you taught yourself to like? I learned to LOVE onions in college while working for Subway. (We had a lot of spare time.) What foods are you content to let pass by without even a thought of trying to like them?

The picture above is from last night as I enjoyed a delicious, perfectly toasted Smore. That is a food that I've never had to force myself to like :)

I wish I liked okra. I learned to love mushrooms. I okay with not liking turnip or collard greens.

I've really really tried to like quinoa. It would be so handy if I liked it but I just can't handle the texture.

I don't mind not liking cornbread and hushpuppies, fast food, coke, turnip greens, beets, and anything with mayonnaise.

I taught myself to love broccoli. I'm pretty proud of that one. :-)

I've never really thought of it the way that you have so eloquently shared...but here goes:

I DON'T LIKE:

Asparagus [even though I have tried more ways and more times than you can count]
Ketchup
Mayonnaise
Mustard

I WISH I COULD EAT:

seafood [but I am allergic]

I HAVE LEARNED TO LIKE:

Mushrooms
onions
brussels sprouts [only cut in half and roasted]
broccoli

I will not try a "new to me food" if it doesn't look appealing...unless I make it myself.

I won't eat lasagna unless I've made it myself...

I know, I am weird!
